I am a big fan of REN and have been meaning to try the No.1 Cleansing Balm for aaaaages. I was walking past Liberty’s a few weeks ago and finally picked a pot up along with some KORRES body butters (MY FAVE).
I was most pleased with the size of the pot, 150ml for £30! What a bargain! I have been using this cleanser for around 2 weeks and I am guessing this pot will last me two months.
I was so eager to try this delicious rose scented balm, I didn’t read the instructions, so I used it the same way I have used other cleansing balms, on a dry face to melt make up and grime, then placed a hot (but not too hot) muslin cloth over my face to dissolve the grime. I used some of Eve Lom’s expertise here, I repeated this three times and then wrapped the muslin cloth around my fingers and used circular motions to remove every last trace of make up.
I finished with a few splashes of cold water. I will continue to use the cleanser this way.
The instructions on the box advise you to massage into your face (which I did and always recommend) and then add a little water to emulsify into a rich milk, rinse with warm water or remove with a muslin cloth. I think this is more for your traditional cleansing with a milk/cotton pad sort of gal…maybe not..just a guess.
I am glad REN included a muslin cloth with the cleanser and I agree with giving buyers the option to either rinse the cleanser off with water or to use the muslin cloth, all depending on your skin and how sensitive it is.
I personally ALWAYS use a muslin cloth or flannel to remove make up, I find it most satisfying to watch all traces of grime being removed.
I LOVE this cleansing balm and highly recommend it, just don’t get it in your eyes (which I always do because I massage so vigorously), it flippin’ stings. I will most certainly continue to buy, especially at that price.
